Large Ammolite Pendant | 925 Sterling Silver
Fossilised Ammonite Shells are fairly common, and are sometimes found with some iridescence on the surface. Ammolites are essentially the same thing but the layer of opal~like Nacre is thicker and the play of colours rivals the best Opal. Ammolite is an opal~like Organic Gemstone mined almost exclusively in Canada, and it's quite rare and expensive. Although still known by many as Opalised Ammonite purely because of it's appearance, in fact the crystalline Aragonite that yields the colours is closer to the Nacre that surrounds a Pearl.
This is a fine large specimen and a real collector's piece. It's set in simple silver that doesn't detract from the stone. The Hinged Bale will also take a 7 mm chain.
