Blue John Fluorite Pendant, Oval Cabochon, 925 Silver, r1

$129.00 -Liquid error (snippets/product-price line 26): divided by 0%
Blue John Rainbow Fluorite Pendant  | 925 Sterling Silver

Blue John is a Fluorite variety that is found only in Derbyshire, UK. First discovered by the Ancient Romans, 2000 years ago, so much has been mined since that it has become quite rare. The name derives from the french ' bleu y jeunne ' meaning blue and yellow which are common colours for this stone.

Blue John is often found in small nodules so the colours and bands often appear to radiate from a central point. You don't see the smooth layered lines like most other Fluorites.

This precious piece is set in 925 Sterling Silver - open backed and with a stepped bezel which looks quite elegant and does not detract from the stone.

Fluorite is quite soft, only 4 on the mohs scale, so it's best to avoid showers, swimming, cleaning chemicals etc. That's why we don't use it in rings, but pendants are perfectly OK.

The first photo is taken in bright sunlight on a white background, the second in the Lihjt box is a 'See Through ' pic to show the structure.

Metaphysically, Fluorite is commonly known as the "Genius Stone" Fluorite helps study by relaxing stress and mental blocks thus allowing your natural intelligence to shine. For study, I like to use Tiger's Eye to focus my mind but alternate with Flourite to mentally relax and see more clearly. Blue John shares these same properties but I do find that radiating structure is more inspiring.
