Famous for its calming effect on mental stress & nervous tension, Amethyst balances and purifies all the subtle energy levels, so it’s an ideal general healing stone. It’s the stone of meditation. Achieve a higher state of consciousness that transcends inner conflicts and return to a feeling of wholeness and connection.
These metaphysical properties are clearly understood from it's physical ones. Amethyst is a Quartz carrying a minute amount of Iron. Already then a combination of pure consciousness and Earthly conditioned mind.  This Iron alters the crystal lattice so that only purple light passes through. Purple is healing and cleansing in it's own right,  but also comprised of the primary colours red and blue which symbolise Male & Female, Fire & Water etc.
So in this stone many opposites, elemental and psychological, exist in a higher state of Harmony Integration & Healing
