Hi everyone and hope you're all doing well. Again I apologise for the long wait between posts. On the plus side it seems I've just shaken off the after effects of Chemo so I'm able to spend a lot more time in the Shop which has been a lovely re connection with my customers and a new found understanding of what we're all about. An oasis of peace in the commercial whirlwind. As true now as it was when I wrote it back in 1990 !
As always the serendipitous Universe responded - as soon as I'd recovered my strength then Leah our manager and mainstay for 10 years resigned to focus on her burgeoning photographic business. Silver Price Shock
You may have noticed that the Silver Price has been going crazy since last November. Partly this is due to low supply and higher industrial demand, but also there has been a lot of gross and barely legal manipulation by investors. It seems to be settling down to about double the price of 6 months ago and I think that will be the new normal. This doesn't affect our Jewellery prices too much because the Silver is only portion of the cost compared to the stone, but things like chains will double at least.
Moldavite
New stock has just arrived and been uploaded. As per above prices seem to be about 25% higher. Since there have been more questions about authenticity, which is only fair, I just did a deep dive into this issue which basically proved to myself that faking Moldavite properly is not an easy thing. Just look at the poisonous green specimens on Ebay selling for a few dollars and sent with a Certificate of Authenticity ! These scammers make it hard for honest business people and motivated me to research and write the following advice for Moldavite buyers which now appears on every new product description -
